This jacket is painted with an assortment of creatures that we rely on for pollination of flower and crop plants!⠀ Pollinators transfer pollen grains from one flower to another, this allows the production of seeds which can then be dispersed into the surrounding habitat. 35% of agricultural crops and 60-70% of flowering plants rely on pollinators for reproduction! in the UK, our main pollinators are insects which are featured on this jacket! The abundance of pollinators is unfortunately on the decline, a review In 2013 by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the UN highlighted that the worldwide decline in pollinators is a serious threat to food security. Several factors have been linked to this decline including an increase in intensive farming practices, increased pesticide use and habitat loss. One way you can help pollinators, even in cities, is by planting flowers such as cornflowers, foxgloves, clover and hellebores! ⠀ ⠀ ⠀

A reference list of research that has inspired this piece will be tucked inside a pocket and and an example of one of the common pesticides (imidacloprid) that has lead to a decline in pollinating creatures, particularly solitary bees, is present on the right sleeve.

The chore worker jacket was historically worn by transport and factory workers.

These jackets are vintage and sizing is unisex. You can choose from S, M, L, XL. Mercy usually wears a UK8 and is pictured wearing a size S. please refer to the measurements below.
